of Tucson, AZ Hi I am Bruce, Our Club was started approximately 10 years ago, and we meet EVERY Wednesday for lunch, generally in the Foothills area of Tucson. Out of town guests are welcome to join us if they notify us in by email, prior to noon on Tuesday. Every week we circulate among a number of local restaurants for a variety of foods and ambiance. Weekly emails are sent to all members, except the two who do not use email, advising of the locale. For those two exceptions we give them printouts of the forthcoming 2 month schedule. Everyone orders off the regular menu, and pays by individual separate checks and the restaurants automatically add the gratuity. Though the official starting time is noon, our members start arriving about 11:15 and usually leave about 1:15-1:30. It is a very casual, friendly and informal group, and twice a year we have a Sunday brunch at a local club and the spouses or "significant others" are invited to attend. We have no formal program as such, or dues requirement, and our ONLY request of the members is that they reply EVERY week, so that we can have ample seats for everyone. We like to keep our credibility by not having more that one or two empty seats each week. We publish a membership directory roster which includes a digital photo of every member, along with name of spouse or "significant other", plus address, phone number and email address of all, plus the summer address of the winter visitors. Our membership includes a total of 32 persons, ranging in age from 60 to 89. Almost all members full time year round Tucson residents and only 5 are winter visitors. Our members are all formerly from other parts of the country. Included in representation is Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey and they represent a wide variety of professions and businesses including clergy, teachers, dentists, doctors, engineers, salesman, bankers, and lawyers. One interesting phenomenon has been that past careers are almost never mentioned or discussed at our meetings, but seem to surface eventually over a prolonged period of time.. The President of the group is Jerry Lacker, and Bruce Friedman and Richard Kurland are in charge of member communications and attendance. Adolph Stern is our perennial treasurer, (who serves without bond or compensation). Included in our dining listing are the following restaurants, Risky Business, Montana Avenue, Chad's Steak House, New China Super Buffet, Firebird's Rocky Mountain Grill, The Good Egg, Golden Dragon, El Paso, Cody's Beef and Bean. We have no community or charity activity or events, but some of the group enjoys friendly low stakes, Pinochle, Gin or Poker If you are in the Tucson area and would like to join us contact Bruce by e-mail.
