This page contains the pictures and a short biography of each of the members of the Payson ROMEO Club. It is intended to let the newer members recognize and get to know the other members.
Dennis, a member since 2005, moved to Payson in 2004 and is originally from Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University and went to work for California State University, Fresno, for 18 years. He also worked for General Motors for 15 years and then Northern Arizona University for the last 6 years. He and his wife Patricia have been married for 45 years and have two children with three grandchildren. His hobbies are gardening, travel, and genealogical research. He has had a brush haircut for the past 50 years!

Harry, a member since 2005, was born in New York City grow up on the East Coast in the NY and PA area.  Moved to CA at the age of 16 where he spent most of his adult life.  Harry served in the US Army [Vietnam Vet] he is a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Combat Vets Association.  He attended MSAC and SDSU majored in Business. In April 05 he retired after 30 years working for the Department of Defense.  His main hobby is motorcycles he currently rides a Harley Ultra-Classic 100th anniversary model.

Quentin spent his working life in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and with five years in Rochester, NY. He worked for Manufacturing Control Associates. And later did consulting work on his own. Quentin received his education from Northwestern University and Kellogg School of Management. His hobbies include snorkeling, photography, hunting, fishing, US history, and carpentry. He is the father of six children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Claude was born in Colorado and raised on a farm in Kansas.  He returned to Colorado and got his B.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Denver.  He worked in Denver for 10 years and then moved to Ontario, Canada where he lived for over thirty years.  He Was Director of the Graduate program and clinic in Couple and Family therapy at the University of Guelph.  He has been married to Dixie for 42 years and they have two sons and three grandchildren.  He loves to travel and collects ethnic and antique musical instruments.  He has lived in Arizona since 1996.
Ed, a member of the ROMEO Club since 2004, is originally from Wyoming.  He attended San Francisco State, the University of Texas, and Texas Tech.  After serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War,  Ed went to work for Universities in Indiana, Texas and Missouri.  Ed and Sylvia are married for 55 years and have two children, David and Tracy.  They retired to Southern California, smog and traffic forced them to move.  Ed said, “they were lucky to find Payson”. His hobby is computers.  We are glad to have Ed as a member of the ROMEOs.
Jerry was born in Colorado and raised an OKIE.  He was in the USAF for 6 long years.  He graduated from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1971.  He was in the Banking world for 30+ years and retired from Prudential Asset Resources September 2004.  He was married to Dianne in 1980 in Tabernash, Colorado and their only baby is a Poodle named Harley.  Jerry’s present hobbies are bowling, Harley, and taking naps.  He thinks Payson is a wonderful place to live and has been in the ROMEO Club since 2004.
   
Harry, a member of the ROMEO club long before there was a ROMEO club, rarely misses a Wednesday meeting.  Born in 1930, serving in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, Harry spent the rest of his working life as a Kitchen Designer.  He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1977.  Retired in 1998, Harry and Waneta, his wife make their home in Mesa.  Harry says he is the luckiest man in the world, all 4 of their children, all but one of their Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren live in the Valley also.  One Grandson is on his second tour in Iraq.  Photography, digital imaging and writing are his hobbies. Harry joins the group at least once a month after moving back to the valley.
Bob has been a member of the Payson Romeo Club since 2002.  Bob started out in life at San Angelo, TX with stops in Reno, NV and Pullman, WA.  Ranching with his father until 1980 then into the construction industry and finally Bob went into cabinet making.  Bob served in the U.S. Navy form 1944 until 1946.  He attended Angelo St. University and Texas A&M. Woodworking and golf are his hobbies.  Bob and Doris have been married 58 years and have 2 children, they find living in Payson very enjoyable.
Jerry has been a member of the Romeo Club since 2003.  Before retiring He was the Senior R&D Technician at Honeywell Satellite Systems.  Born in Long Beach, CA. Jerry was raised in Phoenix, AZ.   He served in the U.S. Navy Air Anti Submarine Squadron 21 (VS-21).  Stationed at North Island Naval Air Station, San Diego.  When deployed, USS Kearsarge CVS-33.  Also a member of Mercury Recovery Team, that picked up Gordon Cooper. His  carrier was the first into Gulf of Tankin at beginning of Viet Nam War.  Jerry attended Phoenix College and ASU.  His hobby is Astronomy.  Married to Audrey for 27 ½ years with four children and 13 grandchildren.
John has been a member of the Romeo’s since 2002.  John was born in 1939 in Pasadena, CA and is a proud 3rd generation “Californian”.  He graduated from Pasadena City College and served in the US Navy during the “Cold War”.  John spent his working career in banking, primarily with First Interstate Bank, which later became Wells Fargo Bank.  He moved to Payson in 2002  from Arcadia, CA and is only a part time resident here, living in Montana the other 6 months.  He enjoys fly fishing and even ties is own flies.  He also makes his fly rods and leaders.  He is STILL a lousy golfer.  John has been married to Anita for 38 years and they have 1 son and 2 daughters along with 5 grandchildren.  When he misses a Romeo meeting it is usually because he is in Southern California baby-sitting the grandchildren.
Rudy is a member of the Alpena, Michigan Romeo Club since September 2004 and the Payson club since December 2004.  He was born in Saginaw, Michigan in October 1930.  Rudy was the founder and owner of Alpena Glass Co. Inc. in Alpena Michigan from 1950 until 1995.  He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 with A Co. 701st M.P. Battalion at Fort Knox, KY.  Rudy graduated from Arthur Hill Trade School as a draftsman in 1947 and Arthur Hill High School, Saginaw, MI in 1948.  He enjoys philately, numismatics, gardening, forestry, hiking, history and writing his memoirs.  Rudy and Marylin have been married for 52 years and have 5 children.  They love Payson December through April and Alpena, MI may through November.
Duane has been a member of the Romeo club since 2004. Born in Delta, Colorado. He attended public schools and attended Mesa College where he also played basket ball. He also attended Cal state at Fullerton, CA. and Vanderbuilt University. After 30 years in the Marine Corps as a fighter pilot, Col. Newton retired. He and Joanne have been married 50 years and have one daughter and 3 grandchildren. Duane really looks forward to each Romeo lunch.
   
Earl hales from Detroit, Michigan where he attended St. Teresa’s Catholic School. He made a career as a baker working in hotels such as the Hilton in Los Angles, CA. Earl retired in 1999 and has been a Romeo for one year. Earl enjoys collecting stamps. Unfortunately his wife passed away 34 years ago.

 

Marvin was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He spent 40 years with American Airline where he was a flight engineer. His career was interrupted by a four year stint in the US Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant. Marv loves to play Bingo and is quite successful at it. Marv and Ann have been married 5 years.

 

Bill , a member since 2006, he found out about us in the Payson Roundup. See, some of our members can read. Bill hales from Buffalo, New York where he went to work for Curtis Wright Aviation right out of High School. In 1943 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and was wounded on Iwo Jima. After three years in the Marines Bill came to Phoenix and went to work for the Naval Air Facility in Litchfield Park and then on to Luke Air Force Base. Now retired and recently widowed after 55 years of marriage, Bill chose to live in Payson and is pursuing his love of bowling. Welcome aboard Bill, we are glad to have you as a member.
   
C. E. who hales from East St. Louis, Illinois has been a ROMEO since 2006.  C. E. spent 22 years with IBM in California after a 4 year stint in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955.  C. E. graduated from Millikin University in Decator Ill.  Computer graphics are his hobby and is a member of the Photoshop Club in Payson.  He is the father of 2 daughters, 5 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.  C. E. feels the ROMEOs are a great bunch of guys.
Harvey was born and raised in Cleveland, OH and went on to college getting an engineering degree from Northrop University. He married Darlene in 1980 and they raised 3 boys from his previous marriage. They have 6 grandchildren. He spent 31 years, in Cleveland, working for a spring wire manufacturing company where he was granted a US Patent for a process of induction heat treating wires. Moving to Payson in 2004 he enjoyed the Romeo club so much that he published their web-site. He is also active in the Super Senior's bowling league and member of the Rim Country Classic Auto Club. Most of all he would not miss a poker night, where Hugh taught him everything "he" doesn't know.
Joe has been a member of the ROMEO Club since 2005.  He was raised on a farm in N. Central NE.  He was self-employed as an M.D. for 35 years.  After retirement his wife Lois, and Joe moved to Payson, Arizona.  They have two Children.  He loves to fish, hunt, and play chess.  He was in Military service during the Korean War.  He graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical School.  He loves Payson and being a member of the ROMEO Club.
Ray has been a Romeo since 2002 and looks forward to each Wednesday. Born in Windsor, Ontario Canada, Ray served in the Canadian Army in 1944 and 1946. He came to Phoenix and went to work for Motorola retiring after 29years service. When I asked Ray if he had any hobbies, he said "yes, everything". What he meant by that is he built his own house, including all of the trades. Ray and Catherine are married 23 years and have five children between them.
