of Lakewood, WA
We've had an established group of R.O.M.E.O.'s meeting for
breakfast twice a month here in Lakewood Washington for the past 3-4 years.
We
number 12- 14 men, many retired military and all members of The Little Church on
the Prairie.
Our
founder, a retired WWII U.S. Air Force officer, belonged to a club in North
Carolina many years ago before moving to the Pacific Northwest and he introduced
us to the idea of forming a Christian fellowship group based on the ROMEO
concept in our church. We may be small in number but enjoy the camaraderie and
volunteer our services for various projects around the church campus that are
not covered by the annual budget. We would like to be recognized and included in
the national (international) list of established clubs (without submitting a web
page or computer network link for the purpose of communication) ! Our desire is
primarily to be listed among the hundreds of other similar clubs and I recall
seeing that list on the net when I first researched the background of the ROMEO
clubs after seeing an in depth report on TV's CNN a while back. We never knew
there were other similar groups throughout the country....our leader forgot to
mention that when we first organized our "club" and we now
(embarrassingly) realize it was not an original idea here at the church after
all! It was certainly unintentional and we'd be proud to register alongside
fellow ROMEO clubs to announce our presence here in Lakewood. We are only
exclusive in the fact that our group are all Christian gentlemen and are members
of LCOP. We have no ambitions to recruit membership outside of our own church at
this time as our intent was to enlist retired men in the congregation, enjoy
their fellowship, exchange "war stories" and partake of a hearty
breakfast at a favorite local restaurant. That, in itself, seemed to qualify us
as an official R.O.M.E.O group. Thanks for the organizations support.
